Now or never the Amazon listing optimization is crucial, because the E-commerce is growing, Amazon especially, wanted we or not. So, why try to fight against it? Why not take an advantage of it?
The Covid-19 “forced” people to shop more online, and many of these people will not return back but continuing to buy online. And that is a trend every brand and business owner should take seriously.
I have talked with several brand owners already selling on Amazon. It is quite harsh to say, but many times, not always, though, I got the impression it is a ”necessary bad” to have a product/products listed on Amazon.
For myself it is quite strange because I see selling on Amazon as an opportunity, not Amazon as an ”enemy”. Amazon has traffic(=customers) ready to buy.
Another thing came up, too, with brands having their brick and mortar resellers selling their products on Amazon.
The businesses I talked with don´t allow any Ecommerce businesses sell their products on Amazon. The simple reason for that was they don´t want their brick and mortar resellers lose any sales to an Ecommerce company, even I explained it will be the opposite.
From my point of view it looks like these brands are still stuck too much with the ”old school” way of doing business. They are afraid the Ecommerce will kill brick and mortar businesses totally. That´s why they want to protect these resellers from Ecommerce companies.
In a way I can understand that. But the trend is you need to be online, too, and if you don´t focus on it seriously, you will leave a lot of money on the table for other brands selling same kind of products.
But what if it is the opposite? What if an Ecommerce business can help the brand, but also these brick and mortar businesses to sell more on Amazon?
How is it possible?
There are tons of brands having a bad Amazon product listing. Those Amazon product listings are missing so many crucial things to be found on Amazon search engine, and to be ranked high enough to get decent or more sales.
The product itself can be very good, but the Amazon product listing optimization sucks, and that´s why the listing is not ranked high enough to be found by the big or bigger audience and generate more sales.
The bigger the number of the BSR (= Best Seller Ranking) the product has on its category, the more far away it is from the first page of the category, and it gets less sales than products on the first page. The difference can be thousands of sales depending on the BSR, even the products are similar.
Here are 2 examples from the Beauty category on Amazon:

When I took these screenshots, the first product was ranked as #1, and the second one was ranked as #171 000. So, what is the difference? Well, the #1 gets over 30 000 sales per month, and the #171 000 gets around 3 000 sales per month. Do you see the difference and the importance of the BSR (Best Seller Ranking)?
Please do not get offend what I´m going to tell you next. By all means I don´t underestimate you or your business. But simply based on my experience, this is what brand owners do not simply understand – the Importance of Amazon Listing Optimization. That´s one of the reasons they do not see the value to work with our team, even it is explained and shown with examples to them.
